🍂In your Luteal Phase, the phase after you ovulate and before you menstruate, you burn more energy thanks to the warming effect of the hormone progesterone. You may feel more hungry in this phase of your cycle - so eating balanced and nourishing meals is key in this phase to keep cravings at bay and your mood balanced.

After all, being hangry - easily irritated, moody, maybe even anxious sounds a lot like PMS, doesn’t it?

🥑My favorite thing to do in my Pre-menstrual is hiding in the kitchen, doing things with my hands, blasting loud music. My love language is cooking, so cooking for myself is an ultimate act of self-care for me. 

This super colorful Nourish Bowl is everything you need in your Luteal Phase:

  • Black Bean Patties are yummy AF and deliver protein, keeping you satisfied

  • Sweet Potato boosts serotonin levels, supports your gut and is grounding thanks to being a root vegetable

  • Red Cabbage & Carrot help detox excess estrogen which can in turn improve bloating and breast tenderness

  • Avocado provides healthy fats which are key for hormonal balance

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 avocado 

  • 2 sweet potatos

  • 1 large carrot and 1 handful of red cabbage

Black Bean Burger Pattie:

  • 2 cans of black beans cooked

  • 1 red onion, 3 gloves of garlic

  • 1 small chili

  • 1 egg

  • 4 tbsp of almond flour or breadcrumbs

  • 21 tbsp of tomato paste

  • 2 tbsp of mustard

  • 1 tsp of smoked paprika powder

  • 1 tsp of cumin

  • 1/2 tsp of sea salt

  • 1/2 tsp of black pepper

  • 1 tbsp of soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar 

Chimichurri:

  • 1 chili

  • 3 tbsp of red wine vinegar

  • handful of coriander

  • handful of spring onion

  • 1/2 lime's juice

  • Salt & Pepper

DIRECTIONS

  1. For the Burger Patties, drain & wash black beans, then pre-heat oven to 200C and spread beans evenly. let them dry out for 10 min.

  2. Meanwhile, peel and cut sweet potato and steam.

  3. make the Chimichurri by finely chopping up all ingredients and mixing thoroughly.

  4. Prepare carrot & cabbage salad: chop and marinate with apple cider vinegar, salt, pepper, olive oil 

  5. In food processor: pulse red onion, garlic, and chili, then add dried beans, and remainder of ingredients. pulse, until you can form patties, making sure they are not too mushy!

  6. In pan, preheat olive oil, then fry the burger patties, at least 5min on each side over medium heat until brown & flippable.

  7. Serve all with Avocado, Chimichurri & Carrot-Cabbage Salad.
